I have maintained for some time that people have misused scientific concepts by pulling them out of their context and applying them, errantly, to other subjects. Sir Francis Bacon successfully separated science from philosophy and I get frustrated when I see science dragged back into the philosophical realm.
I have heard of people saying that Einstein's Relativity is a justification for moral relativity. I have heard people say that Heisenburg's uncertainty principle shows that the mere act of observing a system changes it.
Dr. Charles Bailyn, professor of astrophysics at Yale University explained that words in science have technical meanings which are different from the common meaning. He added that the misunderstanding of this, "leads in extreme cases to all sorts of bad philosophy." (source: Introduction to Astrophysics - Yale University , online open course)
